    ABSTRACT OF OUR CURRENT PROJECT

    The soil moisture based automatic irrigation system with GSM using solar energy (power supply).That system will be used to sense and display the soil moisture content,hence switch on the circuit when the water is needed in the soil.Also switch off circuit when there is enough water in the soil and send sms to the farmer for informing the action, the status of working condition of motor pump. Automating farm or nursery irrigation allows farmers to apply the right amount of water at the time, regardless of the availability of labor to turn ON and OFF the system. That means soil moisture will be incremented if the soil resistance is low and will be decremented if soil resistance becomes high, sensor displays this value which is placed inside the soil.     Technical field

    The invention relates to design and implementation of soil moisture based automatic irrigation system with Gsm technology.

    Technical background

    A long time ago, the climate change disturbed the agriculture production where the problem of hung was still becomes big for affecting the living life of the world. In order to fight against that problem, the engineers established the irrigation system as a solution for increasing agriculture production which is proportional to the rapid growth in global population. That system was applicable several years in different country and it becomes a solution where the farmers have been using irrigation technique through the manual control in which they irrigate the land at the regular intervals. This process sometimes consumes more water or sometimes the water reaches late due to which the crops get dried. Therefore, the advance technology improves this system to monitor the moisture content in the soil. The soil moisture based automatic irrigation system facilitates the farmers to increase their production and reducing the running cost of the system. As we all know that, the Agriculture play a significant role in development of the countries. And implementing sensing soil moisture to facilitate the farmers is the basic idea of our project.

    Content of the invention

    In order to solve the above problems, this invention provides an automatic irrigation with Gsm technology for real-time monitoring soil moisture, water leakage.

    Claims

    The Design and implementation of soil moisture based automatic irrigation with GSM technology has the following working principles:

  • The photovoltaic system absorb the sun light, by PV module, it converts them into electricity energy in form of DC power supply. The charge controller maintains and protects the power bank (battery) which is used when the sun light is not enough for generating power.
  • The control circuit is supplied by convertor in order to get the low voltage to be applied to arduino and notification devices (LCD and GSM). According to the value of soil moisture detected which is compared with the programmed value as condition, where there are minimum and maximum values predetermined; the soil moisture sensor sends the information to the arduino.
  • If the soil moisture reaches to minimum value, the control circuit (arduino) authorizes the relay to be ON for energizing the contactor relay by AC from inverter where the DC power flows into contact to drive the motor pump.
  • When the soil moisture reaches to the maximum value, by information from the soil moisture sensor, the IC cut off its output pin relay for de-energizing the contactor coil, then motor pump is OFF, and recycle continue.
  • This soil moisture based automatic irrigation system monitors the moisture content needed depending on the type and growing laps (steps) of crops.
  • The farmers receive all information of irrigation from his/her field.
    • This project has the following importance:
  • It reduces the running cost of the system (workers, fuel, etc...);
  • It conserve water;
  • It controls itself based on the moisture content;
  • It is simply design circuit;
  • Source of electrical energy is cheap and it is available;
  • It uses the water from rainwater,
  • The installation is portable,
